The first batch of photos come from the Jazz Age Lawn Party in Governor’s Island. Lots of people dressed up, lots of dancing, old fashion music … Overall a very fun day spent out there as there is plenty of occasion for good pictures…

… and even the place itself is full of surprises.

After almost 2 months of inactivity on this blog, an almost fresh update.
Beginning of June is the occasion for me and Sylvia to celebrate many things … which is for me an occasion to take some pictures as well.

I haven’t shot in film since a really long time, I’ve been only using a DSLR for the past years. I notice myself trying to give my images that old look’n'feel -the graininess, the blur, the tones…- and after a while I figured out that instead of trying to reproduce it digitally it will be more authentic to use an analog camera.
Even with manual settings on a DSLR, it’s not that easy to go back to a fully manual camera where you won’t be able to see the result until a few days. It could be considered uneasy not to have all this assistance, but after a few photos it’s rather a great help. You are truly focus on every aspect of your photo because you don’t want to waste film, and it make you think to every aspect of it : frame, focus, exposure…
It’s great to go back to such a camera and I hope it will help me getting better …

No luck on Odin, so Baba Yaga is the next one.
Pencil is finished, only the inking is left, maybe tomorrow if I have enough time to finish it.

Still on the Nordic inspiration, a more known god: Thor, specially now considering the upcoming movie.
The next one for sure is Odin, then if I don’t find more gods to illustrate I might dig into others not-so-common myths (slavic, africans, mongolians…)  … if you have good one, I’m interested.

The pasts weeks were full of snow showers, unstopping rain and the come back of the cold. Hopefully, this weekend give us some ray of light and warm temperatures. Perfect weather to give our first visit to the Brooklyn Flea Market.
As every place of this kind, it is filled with small treasures, curious people, vintage stuff and take away food. We were here mainly as curious people, we didn’t purchased that much things but rather enjoy the sunny weather and the take away food.. yum!
